Both have dyslexia and Imogen also has mild sensory dyspraxia &#8211; Rocksteady has been like therapy. Their confidence has grown more than we ever could have imagined, and all their fears and anxiety completely disappear when they\u2019re playing alongside their bandmates. It\u2019s been a life changing experience for them both.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Imogen in particular has benefited from the lessons, with her mum reporting that it\u2019s made a \u201cconsiderable difference\u201d to her dyslexia.<\/p>\n<p>Having developed an appetite for performance the girls have since joined a musical theatre group, something that Lamorna says wouldn\u2019t have been possible without Rocksteady: \u201cIt\u2019s given Imogen and Phoebe more self-belief. Having refused to attend school for two years and with his confidence and self-esteem at an all-time low, mum Sarah was understandably concerned for her son\u2019s wellbeing. A chance sighting of a Rocksteady poster at his new school was soon to change everything however, as Sarah explains:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarry thought it would be really cool to be part of a band, so we signed him up for lessons and we\u2019ve never looked back. He\u2019s gained so much confidence, improved his communication skills and developed great new friendships with his band mates. Only two years ago he wasn\u2019t in education, and now he always gets up early on lesson days as he\u2019s so excited to get to school. It\u2019s a huge success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarry\u2019s fine motor skills have also greatly improved because of Rocksteady lessons. However, playing drums alongside his friends in their band helps to ensure he doesn\u2019t become too overwhelmed. As his Mum, Kerrie, explains:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToby-John has several conditions that make school really challenging. In particular noise sensory issues make it hard for him to focus in class. However, playing drums alongside his friends in their band helps to ensure he doesn\u2019t become too overwhelmed.
